Chacchoben better known as the “Place of the red corn” is a Mayan archeological site located near the homonymous town of Chacchobén. It is the most important settlement detected to date in the Lake District, whose occupation began 300 years before our era ( Late Preclassic), with small hamlets around the permanent freshwater bodies of the region.
